Oral EPI-7386 in Patients With Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer
This is a phase I, clinical research study of EPI-7386, an investigational drug being studied as a treatment for patients with prostate cancer. All patients in the study will receive EPI-7386. Since this is the first study of EPI-7386 in humans, there is no information about how it affects people or what dose should be used. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to assess the safety (side effects) of EPI-7386 and to find a dose that can be given without unacceptable side effects. There are other important things that will be evaluated during the study: - How the amount of EPI-7386 in the blood changes over...

Oral Hedgehog Inhibitors in the Treatment of Basal Cell Carcinoma in the Netherlands: a Prospective Registration Study
Background: Oral hedgehog inhibitors vismodegib and sonidegib have been used for the treatment of locally advanced (laBCC), metastatic basal cell carcinoma (mBCC) and in basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS) patients. In the Netherlands, targeted therapy with vismodegib and sonidegib has been available since 2013 and 2021, respectively. No direct comparative studies have been performed between the two oral hedgehog inhibitors (HHI) vismodegib and sonidegib yet . In addition, data for sonidegib are not yet available. Objective: The aim of this study is 1) to evaluate the effectiveness of oral HHIs in the treatment of laBCC, mBCC and BCNS...

Oral Immunonutrition With Synbiotics, Omega 3 and Vitamin D in Patients Undergoing Duodenopancreatectomy for Tumoral Lesion.
The purpose of this trial is to demonstrate that synbioimmunonutrition (SI) combined with omega-3 fatty acids (O3) and Vitamin D (D) is superior to conventional 7-day preoperative immunonutrition in terms of reducing overall morbidity, in cases of duodenopancreatectomy for tumoral lesion.

Oral Microbiome Diagnostics of Lung Cancer
The study aims to develop a deep learning-based diagnostic method for lung cancer using the oral microbiome. This innovative approach involves establishing an observational cohort of 576 individuals, including lung cancer patients, non-cancerous benign lung disease patients, and healthy controls, to collect tongue swab samples for 16S rRNA sequencing. Additionally, an international cohort of approximately 1700 individuals will be formed using in silico data. The project will utilize deep learning methods to analyze all data integratively and develop an AI diagnostic algorithm capable of distinguishing lung cancer patients from ...

Oral Microbiome is Associated With the Response to Chemoradiotherapy in Initial Inoperable Patients With Esophageal Squamous Cell Cancer
Esophageal cancer accounts for more than half of the world, seriously affecting people's health in China. 95% patients are squamous cell carcinoma. Surgery is the preferred treatment for early and middle stage esophageal cancer, but patients with clinical stage T4b or other surgical contraindications have no surgical opportunity. In recent years, radical chemoradiotherapy has played a key role in the treatment of local advanced esophageal cancer with some poor predicting biomarkers. Oral bacteria may play a pathogenic role in cancer and other chronic diseases by producing chemical carcinogens and inflammatory factors through direct...

Oral Minoxidil for the Treatment of Recurrent Platinum Resistant Epithelial Ovarian Cancer
The primary purpose of this study is to determine the response rate of patients with recurrent platinum resistant ovarian cancer when treated with oral minoxidil. Secondary objectives include estimating the time to disease progression while on minoxidil and to describe the toxicities of minoxidil when used for patients with recurrent platinum resistant ovarian cancer. An exploratory objective is to evaluate if efficacy of minoxidil is improved in patients that have the Kir6/SUR complex versus those that do not.

Oral Nutritional Supplement Preferences in Patients With Cancer
Patients diagnosed with cancer have a particularly high risk of developing malnutrition due to the disease itself and due to symptoms of cancer treatments that can affect food intake such as reduced appetite, nausea, fatigue, and alterations in taste and smell. Nutritional treatment is essential in the prevention and treatment of malnutrition. Oral nutritional supplements (ONS) are often recommended to cancer patients who need to increase their nutritional intake and are unable to meet their nutritional requirements by consumption of normal food alone. However, patient compliance with ONS depends on sensory acceptability of such...
