Early Feeding After Oral Cavity Reconstruction
This is a prospective single-arm non-inferiority trial evaluating surgical outcomes in subjects who are fed in the first days after oral cavity reconstructive surgery. The purpose of the study is to specifically compare the rates of orocutaneous fistula in subjects who are allowed to eat immediately after surgery to those rates published in the literature (individuals for whom oral feeding is delayed for several days after surgery). Eighty nine subjects who will undergo oral cavity reconstructive surgery will be enrolled between Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai West. Study participation will last for 30 days after surgery during...

Effectiveness of Extraoral Photobiomodulation in Management of Oral Adverse Effects in Patients Undergoing HSCT
Patients undergoing hematopoietic cell transplantation (HSCT) receive high doses of chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy to eradicate the underlying disease, which induces a series of adverse effects, including in the oral cavity. Among the most common oral lesions is oral mucositis (OM), which has been associated with greater morbidity and important biological and economic impact.Currently, photobiomodulation (PBM) with intraoral application has been recommended for the prevention of OM, however, few studies have evaluated the impact of its extraoral use.

Effectiveness of Photobiomodulation Protocols in Radiation-induced Oral Side Effects in H&N Cancer Patients
Head and neck cancer (HNC) are among the most frequent malignancies in the world. The main treatment modalities for HNC are surgical excision, radiotherapy (RT), and chemotherapy (CT). Severe oral sequelae such as oral mucositis (OM), dysgeusia, opportunistic infections, trismus, and xerostomia/hyposalivation can affect HNC patients due to oncological treatment with RT and QT. Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) with an intraoral low-power laser has been studied as an excellent tool in the management of OM and xerostomia and thus improves the tolerability of RT in the head and neck region. The aim of this multicenter, randomized, ...

Effect of Aloe Vera Gel and Manuka Honey on Radiation Induced Oral Mucositis
The goal of this [ type of study: Clinical trial] is to test effectiveness of Aloe Vera Gel and Manuka Honey in management of Radiation Induced Mucositis in head and neck cancer patients. The main question [s] ] is to [ learn about, test, compare etc.] it aims to answer are: 1. Is Aloe Vera Gel and Manuka Honey effective in management of Radiation Induced Mucositis? 2. Does Aloe Vera Gel and Manuka Honey affect the level of TGFβ1 and EGF in saliva of patients with radiation induced mucositis? participants will be asked to apply Aloe Vera Gel and Manuka Honey or saline three times daily during...

Effect of an Oral Nutritional Supplement on Muscle Mass During Anticancer Treatment
Malnutrition and low muscle mass (sarcopenia) are common problems in patients with cancer. However, a low muscle mass is associated with negative clinical outcomes in patients with cancer. Therefore, it is very important to maintain muscle mass in this population. This study aims to investigate the effect of an oral nutritional supplement on skeletal muscle mass during anti-cancer treatment.

Effect of Losartan on the Incidence and Severity of Chemotherapy-Induced Mucositis in Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients
Mucositis is a common and clinically significant side effect of both anticancer chemotherapy and radiation therapy that can affect any portion of the gastrointestinal tract. Not only associated with an adverse symptom profile, but also it may limit patients' ability to tolerate treatment if not adequately prevented and managed. Moreover, it may be associated with secondary local and systemic infection and poor health outcomes, and generates additional use of healthcare resources resulting in additional costs. Based on study of 38 patients of mean age sixty-one years old diagnosed with colorectal carcinoma were included to evaluate...

Effect of NUTRICAN to Improve Nutritional Status in Cancer Patients
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the efficacy oral nutrition supplement (ONS) in malnutrition/high risk malnutrition cancer patients. The main questions it aims to answer: 1. Are there differences in knowledge, attitude and behaviour scores in cancer patients who receive cancer-specific ONS compared to those who do not receive cancer-specific ONS? 2. Is there a difference in nutritional status as assessed by average body weight, body mass index (BMI), haemoglobin (Hb), and albumin levels in cancer patients who receive cancer-specific ONS compared to those who do not receive cancer-specific ONS?

Effect of Preoperative Immunonutrition Versus Standard Oral Nutrition in Patient Undergoing Colorectal Surgery.
This is a randomised controlled clinical trial . The investigators aim to compare the effects of preoperative immune modulating enteral nutrition and standard oral nutrition supplement on clinical outcomes of the patients undergo colorectal cancer surgery. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does immunonutrition preoperatively facilitate earlier return of Gastrointestinal function? 2. Does immunonutrition significantly reduce risk of post-operative surgical site infections? 3. Does immunonutrition significantly reduce duration of hospital stay in patients undergoing colorectal...
